The Federal Government has disclosed plans to expand gas supply and distribution to every nook and cranny, as a major source of energy.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nicholas Ella stated this during the training of staff members of the ministry, yesterday in Abuja.
Ella remarked that President Bola Tinubu placed a high premium on gas infrastructure development and supply, with the launch of the ‘Decade of Gas’ programme.
“The President places a high premium on gas infrastructure development and supply. He demonstrated this with the launch of the ‘Decade of Gas programme, ensuring Nigeria expands the supply and distribution of gas as the major source of energy.
“Many states of the Federation are latching onto the federal government’s gas expansion program.
“We are vigorously driving gas expansion to every nook and cranny of the country with the National Gas Expansion Programme.

“These projects are geared towards ensuring an efficient and widespread distribution of gas; positioning Nigeria as a leading gas-powered economy,” he said.
He, also, stressed the need for them to be professional and diligent in the discharge of their duties, to achieve the federal government’s Vision.
He said: “Therefore, I would like to cease this opportunity to appeal to all members of staff of this great Ministry to brace up for the huge responsibilities placed on our shoulders as civil servants, which, as we all know, is the engine that drives and sustains development in any society.
“I enjoin all of us, junior, mid-level and senior cadres in the Ministry, to roll up our sleeves and join the Honourable Ministers of State who have been tasked by President Bola Tinubu to deliver on his Renew Hope Agenda.
“In line with Mr President’s vision to reset Nigeria on the path of growth and sustainable development, we must not be found wanting on our mandate as a Ministry in driving the President’s Vision and Mission of laying a sustainable foundation for a decent society.”
