The Vice-captain of Smashers Cricket Club, (CC), Esther Sandy has warned that impending doom awaits any team that aspires to take away their title this weekend in Benin.
The South-south Female Cricket League, (SSFCL) defending Champion top batter, Sandy was quoted after Adolo Amazon captain, Beauty Oguai boasted her team has what it takes to beat the defending Champions on Benin’s home soil.
“We are not going to be intimidated by their record, no tensions. We know what we are going there to do.
To turn results in our favour we must know the reason we are going there. We know we are going there to fight against the defending Champions.” Beauty Oguai affirmed.
Having grown confident from playing two finals and perfecting personal performance,
Esther Sandy emphasized that “Smashers will talk in the field of play.”
“It is not personal stuff, it is all about bats and ball. We will smash any team that comes out to challenge the trophy.”
With that bold statement, the chase for female league bragging rights commenced on Friday as teams would be arriving for the Super Four challenge. The first match comes up on Saturday between Idia Royals vs Pathfinder at 9:30 am while Smashers take on Adolo Amazons by 12:30 pm.
The four contenders are Smashers CC of Uyo, Idia Royals CC, Benin, Adolo Amazons of Benin, and Pathfinders of Port Harcourt.
