Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has promised to invest in agriculture to earn more revenue to drive the country’s economy.
Obi made the promise at the party’s presidential campaign in Maiduguri on Saturday, saying agriculture could give many states in the country huge revenue with more investment and identification of other potentials linked to the sector.
His words: “We want to invest in agriculture in our drive for production economy. Agriculture is a great asset to this country and the north is blessed with landmass, and many potentials. We have seen it happening in other countries.
“We will give confidence to our security personnel by making their working condition better such that they can defend our nation and secure us.”
He also promised to close all internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps across the country, create safer environment for the displaced person’s to return to their homes.
Earlier at a Town Hall meeting with youths and members of the academic, Obi warned the people against choosing their leaders on the basis of religious and ethnic sentiment.
“You will not buy bread cheaper because of your religion or tribe. Resolving the challenges of this country does not need tribe or religion but someone with character and competence which I posses. Therefore, hold me responsible for a new Nigeria,” he said.
