Assistant Inspector General of Police,Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID, Alagbon Annex, Lagos, Mrs Margaret Agebe Ochalla, said FCID has integrity to protect and ready to flush out bad eggs in the force.
She spoke at the Inspector of General of Police [IGP] conference in Abuja. She announced the recovery of N4million extorted from an innocent citizen whose rights were abused before the extortion. She acted on receipt of a petition against a Police Inspector:
“I directed Commissioner of Police, X Squad, to immediately investigate the matter. In the process, the money was recovered from the suspect, who is presently going through orderly room trial and likely to face dismissal and prosecution.
“We handed over the money to the victim. I am committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability. We have imbibed community policing and apply professionalism in discharging our duties.
“My vision is to ensure efficient and effective personnel who are professional and respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens. I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duties.

“I made it unequivocally clear that unprofessional conduct, corruption, extortion, harassment or intimidation of citizens will not be tolerated. Any officers found culpable will face severe disciplinary action.
“There is the need for police officers to be emotionally intelligent to put a human face to their work. We are coming down hard on unrepentant criminals and violators of law. I will spare no effort in instilling discipline within the officers in Alagbon and in upholding the ethics and codes that guide the activities of the Nigeria police force as a disciplined institution. We seek the continued co-operation and support of all citizens in this regard.
“We will engage in robust and effectives human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel. We have improved our relationship with members of the public.
