Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday firmly rejected U.S. President ’s assertion that the conflict with Iran could soon conclude, declaring that only Tehran will set the terms and timing for the end of hostilities.

“We are the ones who will determine the end of the war. The conditions on the battlefield and the end of the war are in the hands of the Islamic Republic,” the IRGC said in a statement carried by Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Earlier, Trump had told CBS News that he considered the campaign against Iran largely complete, claiming U.S. forces had neutralised much of Iran’s navy, air force, missile capabilities, and drone production. He further stated that the operation was progressing ahead of his initial four-to-five week projection.

The conflict erupted in late February following coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes targeting Iran’s military and political leadership, alongside key air defence installations. While Washington expected a short, decisive campaign, Tehran remains defiant, signalling that the war’s outcome will be determined on its own terms.

Analysts warn that the IRGC’s statement underscores the widening gap between U.S. expectations and Iranian resolve, potentially prolonging instability across the region and complicating diplomatic efforts. Despite tactical gains by U.S. and Israeli forces, Iran retains significant asymmetric capabilities through domestic missile programs and regional proxy networks, suggesting that the conflict is far from over.

International observers are closely monitoring the situation, noting that the IRGC’s stance signals a continued challenge for Washington and its allies in controlling the conflict’s trajectory, with no clear timeline for resolution.

This news comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with energy markets and global trade watching closely for any escalation.
