The Coalition of Northern Groups has condemned in strong terms the airstrikes against terrorists in Sokoto State carried out by the US.
The Coordinator of the group, Comrade Jaliu Aliu Charanchi told Saturday Sun that no nation that respects itself allows foreign powers to fly in and drop bombs on its soil. “This is a direct assault on our sovereignty, a dangerous precedent, and a clear signal of leadership failure. Terrorists must be crushed but not at the expense of Nigerian lives, dignity and control over our own security.
“Foreign airstrikes risk civilian casualties, deepen resentment, and turn our country into a playground for external interests. Nigeria must fix its intelligence, rebuild trust with communities, and equip its own forces not hand over our security to outsiders.

“So when foreign powers claim they are here to ‘protect Christians’ Nigerians must be alert. The same leaders preaching morality abroad, preside over endless bloodshed at home. They cannot suddenly become saviours in Nigeria.
“Worse, this narrative risks turning our crisis into a dangerous religious war. Nigeria’s reality is not Islam versus Christianity. It is impunity versus justice. It is privilege versus accountability. And if our leaders allow this crisis to be framed as religion, the result will be catastrophic not in forests, but in streets, homes, markets, mosques, churches, and schools.
“Foreign soldiers will not fix what cowardice created. Look at Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria — foreign intervention destroys nations and walks away,” Charanchi emphasised.
