University lecturers under the umbrella of the Congress of University Academics (CONUA) have distanced themselves from the nationwide strike embarked upon by their colleagues who are members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
National President of CONUA, Niyi Sunmonu, in a statement, said the recent misinformation circulating across some media platforms regarding their involvement in the nationwide warning strike had created unnecessary confusion within the academic community and among students.

He said: “CONUA remains deeply committed to academic stability, excellence and the smooth functioning of Nigeria’s universities through constructive dialogue and peaceful engagement with the government and all stakeholders.
“Our members are, hereby, urged to continue performing their academic and administrative duties diligently. Report to work, engage with students and carry out your professional responsibilities as expected. Your steadfastness and integrity remain vital to sustaining standards in our higher education system.”
