From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission(PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado has said his Commission was not looking sleep over the investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Speaking to jonalists in Kano, Monday, he explained that they are rather open to investigation of their activities at any time.
‘’Honestly, we are not losing sleep over the investigation by EFCC and CCB. All along we have always been open and believe that anybody can scrutinize our activities even our books, ‘’ Rimingado said.
‘’We are already collaborating with the agencies as our director of finance and accounts has traveled to Abuja with some of our Lawyers taking with them the documents requested.’’ he added.
Rimigado observed that surprisingly, the commission’s local government offices across the 44 LGAs which they are requesting details about, were not constructed by the Commission but by the State Ministry of Local Government.
‘’You see we know where all these are coming from but their efforts would not stop us from carrying out our responsibilities of fighting corruption.’’ he declared
‘’Even apart from the two agencies, we have mostly been obliging requests for Freedom of Information Act, on any of our activities.’’
‘’The fight against corruption is holistic and should be concerted so that we can win” he stated..
It could be recalled that officials of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission were summoned to report at the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja with détails of their finances from 2016 to 2021.
Similarly, the Code of Conduct Bureau has commenced investigation into the financial conduct of some officials of the Commission.
