The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State chapter has said it is not losing sleep over the defection of some prominent members of the party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Oir correspondent reports that on Thursday October 9, 2025, the member of the House of Representatives for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Ojema Ojotu while addressing his constituents in Agatu Local Government Area, announced his decision to dump the PDP for the ruling APC citing internal wrangling in the opposition party as reason for his action.

Meanwhile, a member of the Benue State House of Assembly for Okpokwu State Constituency, Andrew Agom also defected from the PDP to the APC on the floor of the house, saying he wants to align with the developmental strides of the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

Reacting to the developments, the State Secretary of PDP, Daniel Nyikwagh, I’m a phone chat with newsmen said those leaving the party are just chickening out, maintaining that there is no party that does not experience wrangling.

He disclosed that the party has reached advanced talks to receive two serving senators and many members of the ruling APC into the PDP soon.

He insisted that, “Those leaving are just giving a dog a bad name to hang it. Yes, they have the right to associate with whoever they want. But do you run out of a house because there are bed bugs in it? You stay and fix it.

“Is there haven in APC? Politics is all about wrangling. They are merely chickening out.

“The House of Representatives member for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency is demanding for automatic ticket for 2027. PDP will not guarantee anyone automatic ticket, you must go through a primary.”
