The member representing OnuImo state constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly, Hon James Esile Uba has said that the only way to insecurity in the state is through Education and empowering the youths through skills acquisition.

This is as he disclosed that he has already paid  the WAEC examination fees for 104 candidates from his constituency and assisted 50 others in securing admissions in various tertiary institutions both within and outside of state.

Hon Uba who disclosed this yesterday in his office during  interaction with select Journalists said that the only way to fight  against insecurity is through education and the empowerment of the youths with skills acquisition according to their God given talents.

He said : ” I believe in Human capital development and education and skills acquisition, is one of the ways in which one can do this . I have what is called the ” FRRSH AIR”  and in the past five years I have been using it to empower our youths and women  in OnuImo Council long before I was elected into Imo State House Assembly in 2023. This year have paid the WAEC examination fees for 104 candidates and this is the fifth Edition. Ironically, I don’t know the beneficiaries and only see them for first time when they are presented to for awards beacuse they are selected through an examination by a committee.  I have also been paying the schools fees for others already in tertiary institutions within and outside Imo state. This is in addition, to securing admissions for 50 persons from my consitutency this year. ”

Continuing , ” I have also being assisting the market women with  financial assistance to help them to  boost their small scale businesses. By so doing ,you are helping to improve their economy as well.

Hon Uba also disclosed that in the OnuImo football tournament held recent said that high point of the youth football tournament was the selection of five of the players who took part in the tournament by the Heartland FC Coach,Emmanuel Amuneke.

The lawmaker whose Bill for the creation of a Film  Village and Academy is before  the House ,says that if passed into law, and which is to be   situated at Umucheke Okwe ,will not only help to harness the latent talents of Imo youths  but will boost the internal revenue of the state and will equally boost the local economy of OnuImo  council.

 

” I am doing whatever I could to help my people because we are lagging behind in many things. ” He said.
