WAPCo awards N6.1m scholarships to 7 UNIOSUN students

Seven students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) have secured scholarships worth N878,040 each under the 2025/2026 Annual Scholarship Scheme of West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) Limited, bringing the total award to over ₦6.1m.

A statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, said the award recognised the beneficiaries’ outstanding academic performance and dedication to excellence.

According to a letter signed by WAPCo’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Dr. Isaac Adjei Doku, the grant is designed to support tuition payment, books, and other academic expenses, with any balance after school fees to be released to the students for personal educational needs.

The beneficiaries are: Feyisetan Taiwo Favour ; Sociology, College of Management and Social Sciences Alao Ayomide Kehinde; Microbiology, College of Science and Technology, Olagbenro Princess Iretomiwa; Biotechnology, College of Science and Technology, Akande Omowunmi Oluwadamilare; Medicine and Surgery, College of Health Sciences, Efuwape Adedayo Seseyon; Medicine and Surgery, College of Health Sciences, Adeyanju Oluwasola Sunday; Mechanical Engineering, College of Science and Technology, Adefamo Michael Adedeji; English and Literary Studies, College of Humanities and Culture

Reacting, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Odunayo Clement Adebooye, congratulated the awardees, describing the recognition as proof of the university’s strong academic culture and commitment to excellence.

“This achievement reflects the quality of education and mentorship our students receive. We commend WAPCo for investing in the future of our youths and urge the beneficiaries to remain diligent and uphold the values for which the university is known,” he said.

The university reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class education, advancing innovation, and producing globally competitive graduates, while expressing appreciation to corporate partners whose interventions continue to enhance student development and academic growth.
