Nigerian professional boxer Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab has declared his readiness to deliver a defining performance in his next fight as he continues his ascent in the sport.
Born and raised in Lagos, Wahab is currently based in Ghana, where he has been sharpening his skills in preparation for upcoming bouts.
The hard-hitting fighter boasts an impressive professional record of 25 wins, including 18 knockouts, and two defeats. Reflecting on his journey, Wahab described a career shaped by resilience, highlighting his first loss—a controversial split decision in London—as a key learning moment.
He responded strongly to that setback, capturing the WBO African Title twice to reaffirm his status as one of the continent’s rising talents.
Seeking bigger opportunities, Wahab later featured on a major international card in Saudi Arabia. Despite moving outside his natural weight class, he embraced the challenge, though the contest ended in a knockout defeat.
The experience, according to Wahab, proved transformative. “Boxing is not just about physical preparation; it requires mental strength and constant improvement in every aspect,” he said.
Determined to bounce back, he returned to Ghana to intensify training, a move that paid off with a first-round knockout victory in his most recent outing in Thailand.
Wahab now turns his attention to his next fight against Tanzanian opponent Mkola, a clash he believes will mark a turning point in his career. The Nigerian revealed that pre-fight verbal exchanges are part of the build-up but insists his response will come in the ring.
“This fight is a statement.
I want to show that I’m coming back stronger and ready to take what I missed before,” he said.
He added that his ultimate goal remains to represent Nigeria with pride and uphold the nation’s reputation as the “Giant of Africa” through his performances.
Meanwhile, Balmoral Group Promotions and Amir Khan Promotions have confirmed a stacked fight card for the event, featuring a mix of international and local bouts that includes McKinson vs Sahnoun, Adeyemo vs Mdoe, Antwi vs Kamanga, Ahorgah vs Laws, Animashaun vs Amos, Wahab vs Mkola and Adebayo vs Japhet.
The main event will see Arenveka take on Appan, while a celebrity bout between Carter Efe and Portable is also expected to draw significant attention.
