Wage demand affecting Dele-Bashiru’s Lazio move

Lazio’s pursuit of Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has encountered a significant obstacle due to his lofty wage demands.

The 23-year-old, who has already given his nod to the move, has been negotiating personal terms with the Biancocelesti.

However, his salary requests have brought the talks to a standstill, according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The versatile player who can operate as a playmaker and a right winger, was identified by the Italian outfit’s Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani as a prime target for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The two-time Italian champions had initiated negotiations with Hatayspor, Dele-Bashiru’s current club, and were close to agreeing on a deal worth €7 million in total.

Despite the progress made, Lazio’s talks with Dele-Bashiru have slowed down significantly due to his high wage expectations.

The Nigerian midfielder was impressive for Hatayspor, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 39 appearances across all competitions last season.

Lazio are keen to find a solution to the impasse and are expected to continue negotiations in the coming weeks.

The club is eager to secure Dele-Bashiru’s services, but not at the expense of their wage structure.

A product of Manchester City’s youth academy, the German-born midfielder has two international caps for Nigeria to his name.

He scored on his competitive debut for the three time African champions against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.
