Malawi on Wednesday evening secured a place in the final of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating Algeria 3-1 in their semi-final clash.

The Scorchers put on a strong display to overcome the North Africans and book their place in Sunday’s final.

Tabitha Chawinga was the star of the encounter, scoring twice, while her sister, Temwa Chawinga, also found the net to complete Malawi’s victory.

Ikram Adjabi scored a goal for Algeria in the second half.

The outcome of the encounter means Malawi will now face the winner between Cameroon and Morocco in the WAFCON final.

Algeria, on the other hand, will face the loser in the third-place final this weekend.
