VP Shettima, Zulum observe Eid in Maiduguri

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Gov Babagan Zulum were among thousands of Muslims that observed their prayers in Maiduguri on Wednesday for the Eid El-Fitri celebration to mark the end of Ramadan fast
Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Saleh who led the Eid prayer at Ramat Square; Borno main Eid Ground, urged all Muslims to continue to live with the virtues learnt during the month-long Ramadan fast.
Gov Zulu while speaking after the eid prayer, urge the people to step up their prayers for peace to reign in Borno and Nigeria.
“I also want to urge the people of Borno State to be law-abiding and patient with the government. We are doing everything possible to reduce the hardship faced by our people,” Zulum said.
He used that occasion to comment on the power outage in the state despite the establishment of a gas plant by the Federal Government through the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd.
“I am aware Borno State has been witnessing blackouts due to the vandalisation of the electricity transmission towers along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
“As a result, the people of Maiduguri Metropolis and its environs have been witnessing water shortage,” he said.
He explained increasing cut in power supply from the gas plant for nearly two months now was due to technical fault.
He assured government will do everything possible to restore power to the state.
