Renowned fashion designer Seyi Vodi has called on business owners nationwide to promptly pay their taxes, describing it as a vital step to propel President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and increased infrastructure growth in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a statement issued by Head, Corporate Communications, FCT-IRS, Mustapha Sumaila, the celebrity taylor led by example on Friday, voluntarily filing his Annual Tax Return at the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) headquarters without prompting. He described taxes as the backbone of sustainable development, urging tailors and fellow entrepreneurs to embrace this civic duty for Nigeria’s progress.
“It is noble to pay your taxes because this is the money the government uses for infrastructural development and the provision of public services to the people,” Vodi said. “I am urging my fellow business owners, especially tailors, to come forward and voluntarily discharge this civic responsibility for the progress of the FCT and Nigeria as a whole.”
Vodi, who said he has been an FCT resident for 25 years since his NYSC days, praised Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike for unprecedented strides in roads and security. “The infrastructural development under the present FCT Minister is unprecedented… The projects are visible; only the blind would fail to see how the capital city has been transformed,” he added.
Acting FCT-IRS Executive Chairman Michael Ango hailed Vodi as the first high-net-worth individual to file this year’s return, urging him to rally his peers. “The Minister has transformed Abuja into a world-class capital city, and citizens must support this progress by living up to their responsibilities,” Ango stated, pledging a commendation letter for Vodi’s compliance.
