Nigerian youths have been enjoined to use their God-given talents to the benefit of humanity.
This message was portrayed in a Christian movie, Chalita, which was held at Arts and Culture, Area 10, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Easter Monday.
Residents from Kogi, Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa states, respectively, converged on the venue to watch the 35-minute drama.
The play was organised by Vision Drama Missions Outreach International, in collaboration with Revelation Cinema and Wow Expressions and ANCEDRAM, Abuja.
There was a music ministration by gospel artist, Pastor Chris Morgan, and other artistes, who thrilled the audience with their performances.
Chalita was performed by a large cast and highlighted the divine power of God in the lives of men.
It also enforces the need for youths to use their God-given talent to glorify Him. Artistes who featured in the stage play included Great Ineh, Samson Olukan, Taiwo Olabisi, Gabriel Adeleke, Hannah Moses, among others.
Producer and director of the play, Felix Bankole, who also played one of the major roles, said after the event: “I wrote the play to educate our youths who are in a hurry to make it (get-rich-syndrone) to rely on God to prosper them, and they should not cut corners to become rich. They shouldn’t be in a hurry in life, God’s time is the best.”
Head of Performing Arts and Culture, FCT Abuja, Kayode Ayegbusi, added that the reintroduction of live theatre would help reduce criminality among the younger generation.
“We know drama has the power to pass positive messages easily to people. It reaches out to people irrespective of their tribe, race and religion. Drama cuts across these borders, and it is a powerful tool for getting messages across to people.
Yemi Bankole, who played the role of The Narrator’s daughter, said: “The old traditional way that we grew up then of having time for storytelling is no longer there. I am happy, because it has brought back memories of my childhood days. I played a challenging role, but I put in my best not to disappoint my fans.”
