The Lagos State Government has debunked a viral video claiming that people are currently residing under the Oja Oba Bridge, describing the footage as old and misleading.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made the clarification in an X post on Thursday.

Wahab said his attention was drawn to the video shared by an X user, suggesting habitation under the bridge.

“I wish to clarify that the video is an old recording, taken approximately two years ago, and does not reflect the current situation at the location,” he stated.

The commissioner urged bloggers, influencers and other media platforms to verify information before sharing it.

He said, “The circulation of outdated or misleading content can create unnecessary public concern and place undue pressure on government agencies and officials who work tirelessly, often around the clock, to protect and maintain our environment.”

Wahab reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to keeping Lagos clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable.

He also encouraged residents to support the effort by sharing accurate and verified information.

The government has in recent years intensified clearance operations under bridges across Lagos as part of its environmental and security enforcement drive.
