Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has warned the public against acts of provocation directed at policemen on lawful duty.

Adejobi issued the warning while reacting to a viral video in which a man challenged an AK-47-wielding policeman for being at an “illegal” checkpoint.

In the video, the man, whose face is not shown, can be heard passionately arguing with the policeman despite warnings to stop.

According to Adejobi, such acts are not only unacceptable but also capable of undermining public safety.

He said, “We strongly condemn this act of provocation against officers performing their lawful duty.

“Such disturbances are unacceptable as they are capable of undermining public safety.

“We urge citizens to respect security personnel and desist from any actions that obstruct their work.”
