Vintage 93.7 FM creates awareness walk for World Mental Health Day in Ibadan

Nigeria joined the World Health Organisation to create awareness for mental issues around the world and mobilised support for mental health with an awareness walk in Ibadan on October, 10, 2023.

Ibadan based radio station, Vintage 93.7 FM in collaboration with Olamma Cares Foundation used the occasion to awareness on the importance of mental health and the need to address it.

The General Manager, Vintage 93.7 FM, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa emphasized the importance of openness when dealing with mental health.

According to her, “Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Former commissioner for Youth and Sports, Oyo State, Seun Fakorede said there is the need to  treat mental health with the same level of importance as physical health.

In the same vein, founder, Olamma Cares Foundation, Chioma Fakorede said biological makeup could determine the state of ones well-being.

She added that a number of mental health disorders have been found to run in families and may be passed down to members.

These include conditions such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia among others
