Leadership is neither a title nor status, but the ability to influence others and effect positive decisions for the betterment of mankind. This has been the strong conviction of the prince of Umuenyere Alayi Autonomous Community- HRH Prince, Vincent Ejikeme Iheke who is also a renowned trained Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Specialist.

His love for service endeared him to work with the National Social Safety-Net Programme (NASSP), which is a World Bank assisted project, at the state level. He has supervised and monitored the payment of over 100,000 beneficiaries from the 17 LGAs of Abia State under the State Cash Transfer Unit from 2018 till date.

The programme aims at empowering mainly poor and vulnerable groups (PVGs) especially at the rural areas and hinterland. His passion for service to humanity cannot be overemphasized as seen in the discharge of his duties.

These and more made his old boys association- Marist Brothers’ Juniorate Old Boys Association Class of 2003 (Xjays ’03) elect him as both the Secretary-General and the Financial Secretary of the Association which he served from 2021-2024. Given his busy schedule, holding one position could be a herculean task but he held the two positions and discharged his duties with uncommon dexterity and passion.

And on 1st November, 2025, the Association awarded him a Certificate of Excellence for his excellent services during their bi-annual general meeting/reunion- an award he received with humility and pride with resolute to offer more services to humanity. According to the Association’s president- Hon Chukwuka Nwankwo, who is also a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to governor of Anambra State, it was an honor well deserved. Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Uturu, Abia State, is one of the leading schools in WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) both in Nigeria and West Africa.

In addition, in recognition of his service to God and humanity, The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Mission Hill Parish, Umuahia, Abia State presented him an Award of Honor on Sunday, 30th November, 2025 which he received with utmost humility and awe.

Receiving the award from the presiding pastor- Rev Vigor Barisitomka, Prince Vincent Iheke thanked the Reverend, the chairman organizing committee- Elder Samuel Ubaka and the entire church for finding him worthy of the award. In his words, “These recognitions are all invariable applications and propelling factors to increase my service to God and humanity in the years to come as this is the whole essence of purposeful living and existence.” He thanked his Old Boys Association and the Presbyterian Church for the recognition and pledged his support as always.
