A vigilante abducted during a clash with herdsmen in Amakohia-Ubi community in Owerri-West Local Government Area of Imo State, has been found dead in a bush with his body badly mutilated.

A source from the community said the victim simply known as Uche Ejiofor, was found by his colleagues on Friday inside a bush while searching for him.

“Yes he has been found but in a gruesome state. His body was badly stabbed. We think they might have tried shooting him to death but couldn’t succeed, so they probably decided to butcher him to death,” the source said.

The mutilated body has since been deposited in the morgue, according to an indigene of the area.

Meanwhile, people of the area who fled in fear of the incident are still not confident of returning to their homes.

One of them who spoke to our correspondent said: “For me, I’m not returning soon, but I can go back in the morning, but sleeping there is what I can’t guarantee. “
