Paul Ogunlaja led Ojodu City to a commanding 3-0 victory against Red Star Belgrade, marking a significant achievement in their third appearance at the Viareggio Cup in Italy.

Offensively, Ojodu City executed Ogunlaja’s game plan perfectly, as their players went all out against the Serbians and scored three goals in the first half.

It took just eight minutes for the Ojodu Tigers to break through Red Star Belgrade’s defence, with Sulaiman opening his goal account. Aaron then doubled the lead with excellent teamwork in the 22nd minute, and Abdullahi sealed the win with a powerful strike from his half.

Ogunlaja told SportingSun, “It was an intense and thrilling match, combining physicality and tactical strategy.

“It was another big test for me, despite my being well-versed and knowing the nitty-gritty of European age-grade football, having led Ojodu City to the semi-finals and quarter-finals in the last two Viareggio Youth Cup editions, as well as in another international scouting tournament in Russia.”

“The 3-0 scoreline accurately reflected the game overall. The team is well-positioned to dominate today’s match against Rejika of Croatia and secure their spot in the next round,”
