VFD Group Plc has redeemed its N12.83 billion Series 5 Commercial Paper on its maturity date of November 14, 2025, reinforcing the company’s liquidity strength and record of meeting debt obligations as and when due.
The settlement, carried out under the firm’s N20 billion Commercial Paper Programme, comes despite ongoing volatility in Nigeria’s fixed-income market.
The redemption reduces the Group’s short-term debt exposure and forms part of a broader balance-sheet strategy aimed at deleveraging. Since its debut commercial paper issuance in 2022, the company has fully raised and redeemed a cumulative N33.4 billion across five cycles, maintaining a consistent settlement record. The latest redemption extends this trend and underscores the Group’s profile as a dependable issuer in the Nigerian fixed-income market.
Executive Director, Finance & Investor Relations, Mr. Folajimi Adeleye, said the settlement demonstrates the Group’s disciplined liquidity management. He stated: “The timely redemption of the Series 5 CP is non-negotiable proof of VFD Group’s robust liquidity and commitment to every stakeholder who entrusts us with capital. The redemption action, which achieved a tangible reduction in the Group’s short-term debt obligations, directly improves VFD’s funding structure. This performance contrasts sharply with prevailing fixed-income trends, positioning VFD as a premium issuer, capable of navigating current high-yield environments.”
The redemption follows sustained investor interest in the Group’s ongoing N50 billion Rights Issue of five billion ordinary shares priced at N10 each. The offer, scheduled to close on November 24, has continued to attract participation amid confidence in the company’s fundamentals and operating track record.
VFD stated that the successful settlement positions the Group to integrate new capital efficiently and support near-term strategic priorities. These include further expansion of its Bvndle loyalty platform and continued execution of business initiatives across its investment portfolio.
The Group maintains operations in West Africa, Southern Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, with investments spanning financial services, market infrastructure, capital markets, fintech, real estate, hospitality and ecosystem support services.
