The turn-out numbers for Sunday’s controversial referendum in Venezuela have been “tampered with”, the company running the voting has alleged.

The CEO of Smartmatic, Antonio Mugica, made the comments at a press conference in London.

Venezuela’s electoral authorities said the turn-out for the referendum on a new constituent assembly had been 8.1 million.

But the opposition said the figures had been inflated. (BBC)
