The newly admitted students for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences, Lagos State University have been charged to respect the rules and regulations of the university.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM gave the charge while welcoming the freshmen at the orientation programme organised by the faculty for them.

The event took place yesterday at the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) Resource Centre.

The professor of Physiology, who was represented by a professor of Parasitology, Prof. Omolade Olayinka Okwa welcomed the students to the university and congratulated them on the feat. Her words “…the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, is well pleased to have you all here. You are a very senior student, and we do not expect any form of examination malpractice from you. You need to take all the necessary information very seriously. The university has zero tolerance for examination malpractices and other social vices. You must adhere strictly to the terms, rules, and regulations of the university,” she said.

The Vice Chancellor counselled the students to give their programme (DBA or DPA) all it takes in order for them to graduate in record time, adding that, all of them are mature and responsible students, and should do the right thing at the right time.

The Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, equally congratulated the students and spoke explicitly on *”Lecture Attendance, Examination & Conduct”

The Coordinator of the flagship programmes, Prof Matthew A Abata, while welcoming the students, thanked them for finding the university worthy of a place of study. His words “…I thank you for finding this university worthy of a place of study. It’s a laudable programme. I strongly believe that you will not be the same when you are leaving the university….as you want more from us, we equally expect more from you,” he averred.

Other speakers at the orientation programme were: University Librarian, Dr Emmanuel Layi Adebayo, represented by Dr Ogungbeni John Igbekele, who spoke on *Importance of University Library*; Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Ibrahim Olateju talked on *Seminar Presentations & Thesis Writing, Secretary, Postgraduate School; Dr Gbenga Oduyomi explained the *Registration Process*; University Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka, FCA, represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Sosu Olaitan Emmanuel spoke on Financial Obligations; and immediate past Coordinator, Prof John. K Obamiro talked on the Track Records of the Programmes.

The well-attended orientation programme was graced by the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Prof. Tajudeen Abayomi Olumiko, former Deans of the Faculty, Prof. Sylvester Banji Fajonyomi and Prof. Babatunde Yusuf, Professors, Heads of Departments and other Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of the Faculty.

The students interacted with the Speakers and Professors on their presentations at the end of the programme.

The vote of thanks was given by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Raheem Olasupo Akewushola.
