The Ebonyi State government has urged those living within electricity transmission line in the ongoing construction of a 132KV Power Transmission Line from Mile 50, Abakaliki to Amasiri in Afikpo Local Government Area of the state to solve the over 10 years darkness in the area by vacating the area.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Power and Energy, Chief Peter Ogeali.
Ogeali said the directive was necessary to safeguard life and property, and ensure successful completion of critical power infrastructure projects, adding that the project has reached an advanced stage.
“The public is, hereby, informed that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is currently constructing a 132-KV Power Transmission Line from Mile 50, Abakaliki to Amasiri.

“The project has reached an advanced stage, with conductor stringing now ongoing, and all transmission towers already erected along the route. Consequently, all persons, including farmers, developers, and property owners, occupying or carrying out activities within the designated Right-of-Way of the transmission line are strongly advised to stay away from the transmission route.
“This is necessary to safeguard life and property, and to ensure the successful completion of this critical power infrastructure project. The affected local government areas include; Ebonyi Local Government Area, Ezza North Local Government Area, Ezza South Local Government Area, Onicha Local Government Area, and Afikpo Local Government Area.
“All traditional rulers, town union presidents, and village heads within the affected communities are, hereby, called upon to mobilise their people and ensure full cooperation with the project team.
“This project is of immense importance to the socio-economic development of Ebonyi State and will contribute significantly to improved power supply across the state. For your safety and the success of this project, kindly comply with this directive”, the commissioner said.
