• Says group remains Tinubu’s ‘organic structure’; dismisses rumours, announces September political summit
Imo State Governor and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodinma, on Tuesday declared that the political mobilisation group created to promote the achievements of President Bola Tinubu would not be dissolved.
Uzodinma said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors remained the “organic structure” of the President and would continue to function before, during and after the 2027 general election.
The governor spoke in Abuja at a meeting with state coordinators, directors and members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors amid concerns and rumours in some states that the group could be disbanded following moves to constitute a Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
Uzodinma said President Tinubu had specifically asked him to reassure members that the organisation remained intact.
“Mr President has told me to tell you that nothing has changed, and Renewed Hope Ambassadors is still there,” he said.
The governor stressed that the group was created by Tinubu and not as a personal political project of any individual.
“Renewed Hope Ambassadors was created by Mr President, not by Senator Hope Uzodinma,” he said.
According to him, the group was established to take the policies, programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians and explain the impact of the administration’s reforms.
“Upon the creation of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, we were charged with the responsibility of taking the achievements of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people, to educate the people, to create awareness, to let the people know the difference between the Nigeria before 2023 and Nigeria after 2023,” Uzodinma said.
He said the organisation had grown into a formidable grassroots structure, with members operating from polling units and wards to local government areas, states and the national level.
Uzodinma disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were currently undertaking a media tour of the six geopolitical zones to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu administration and explain the impact of its reform policies.
“As I speak, there is an ongoing media tour of all the six geopolitical zones, highlighting the achievements of Renewed Hope and the achievements of Mr President, and the results and dividends of the various reform policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
“We have no doubt that Nigerians are coming to terms with the new order.”
Uzodinma said concerns over the future of the organisation were unnecessary, explaining that the Presidential Campaign Council and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had different roles.
According to him, while campaign councils were constituted for specific elections, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors represented a permanent political mobilisation structure.
“The constitution of the Presidential Campaign Council is a political issue that happens every time there is an election,” he said.
“Renewed Hope Ambassadors, you are the organic structure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You will still function and play roles even after elections.”
He added that the Presidential Campaign Council would be used for the election but would not replace the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
“The Presidential Campaign Council, which all of us are members of, will come and be used for election purpose. And after that, we will continue.
“We are not going anywhere.”
Using a military analogy, Uzodinma told the members that political campaign structures could change, but the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would remain.
“You are like the barracks. Soldier will come, soldier will go, barrack will remain,” he said.
Uzodinma said reports that some individuals were pushing for the dissolution of the group had become a source of concern, prompting him to summon the meeting.
“I’m told that some mischief makers in some states wanted the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to be dissolved. It became very worrisome,” he said.
“That is one of the reasons why I called for this meeting, that you are strong.”
The governor said the group had established offices in all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the six geopolitical zones, insisting that such a structure remained central to the political mobilisation of support for the President.
“I’m aware that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have offices in all the 36 states, including Abuja and the six geopolitical zones. So we are still here,” he said.
Uzodinma also announced that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in partnership with the Progressive Governors Forum and local government chairmen, would convene a summit in the third week of September.
He said the meeting would bring together politically elected and appointed personalities from across the country, with Tinubu and his running mate expected to address participants.
“In the third week of September, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in partnership with Progressive Governors Forum and Local Government Chairmen, will convoke a summit of all politically elected personalities and appointed in Nigeria,” he said.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our candidate and his running mate, will address the audience.”
The governor urged members not to be discouraged or misled by rumours about the future of the organisation.
“So rest assured and go home there, campaign. There is no fight, no quarrel,” he said.
“Our product is the President and our commitment is to go there and win election.”
Uzodinma said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would work alongside the Presidential Campaign Council and other political structures to mobilise support for Tinubu across the country.
“We are going to work with the Presidential Campaign Councils. Other officers have their offices here, and we are going to work together because we need every vote in Nigeria,” he said.
“Every vote. There is no bad vote. Once you are Nigerian, you are able to vote for President Bola Tinubu, we need the vote.”
He assured members that the organisation remained firmly in place and urged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu.
“We are still Renewed Hope Ambassadors, and we are here,” Uzodinma declared.
