Governor Hope Uzodimma has ordered the immediate suspension of the State Environmental Transformation Commission(ENTRACO) after some of its official caused the death of a commercial motorcycle ridder and its passenger on Monday.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media to the governor, Oguwuike Nwachukwu noted to that effect that the suspension which takes immediate effect will have the police arrest anybody parading as its officials.

His statement reads in part “Effective immediately, Governor Hope Uzodimma has suspended all activities connected to the operations of Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) till further notice.

“Governor Uzodimma said he was not unmindful of other recent ugly incidents  where the mode of operations of ENTRACO was brought to question by members of the public.” Oguwuike stated.

The incident on Monday caused an outrage after the a vehicle hit the Okada ridder and his passenger while the ENTRACO officials were chasing a vehicle for obstructing and violating its rules.

recall also that the officials of the commission penultimate week were involved in a street fight with residents and traders at Toronto, Amakohia Urata which led to another death.

Meanwhile, the Governor has warned that the suspension of ENTRACO operations is not a license for members of the public to take traffic, environmental, and other laws into their hands as those found violating such laws he added will pay dearly for it.
