Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has ordered the immediate suspension of the state’s Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) after some of its officials caused the death of a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger on Monday.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media to the governor, Oguwuike Nwachukwu, noted that the suspension, which takes immediate effect, would have the police arrest anybody parading as its official.
The statement read: “Governor Hope Uzodimma has suspended all activities connected to the operations of ENTRACO till further notice.

“Governor Uzodimma said he was not unmindful of other recent ugly incidents where the mode of operations of ENTRACO was brought to question by members of the public,” Oguwuike stated.
The incident on Monday caused an outrage after a vehicle hit the Okada rider and his passenger while the ENTRACO officials were chasing a vehicle for obstructing and violating its rules.
Also, the officials of the commission penultimate week were involved in a street fight with residents and traders at Toronto, Amakohia Urata, which led to another death.
Meanwhile, the governor has warned that the suspension of ENTRACO operations was not a license for members of the public to take traffic, environmental and other laws into their hands, as those found violating such laws would pay dearly for it.
