Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has signed the appropriation bill of the 2026 budget presented to him by the State House of Assembly into law.

Performing the ceremony at the Government House annex,Eziachi Orlu on Wednesday, the governor vowed to judiciously expend the sum to complete all ongoing projects in the State and further improve on its Infrastructural and economic activities.

He said “I have just signed into law the 2026 Budget, aptly christened the “Budget of Economic Breakthrough.” This ceremony is yet another fulfillment of the constitutional requirement for checks and balances between the Executive and the Legislature.

“When I laid the budget before the House, the provisions were estimates. Today, it returns to me as a Bill. My signature, which I have just appended, makes it a Law. This is the beauty of our democracy in action, the seamless operation of checks and balances for the common good.

“Imo people should be proud to know that this budget is unique. It is a visionary N1.4 trillion roadmap designed to move our state from recovery to a total economic harvest. I want to assure our people that I will lead a clinical implementation of this document. We will not merely spend; we will invest with precision to ensure that every objective is realized.

“The road revolution you see across the three zones of our state will continue with renewed vigour. Notably, this budget accommodates the comprehensive renovation of critical federal roads, specifically the Owerri-Onitsha and Owerri-Port Harcourt corridors. I am undertaking these projects not because the state has received federal reimbursement, but because I recognize that these roads are the lifeblood of our local economy.

“We must, however, acknowledge that we are able to undertake these massive investments because of the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His economic policies have turned a corner and expanded the resources available to the states, making it possible for us to tackle projects that were previously considered out of reach.

“We are using this fiscal space to ensure that the “Light Up Imo” project becomes a reality, providing the 24-hour power supply necessary to drive our industrial clusters and digital hubs.

“As we sign this Budget of Economic Breakthrough into law today, 31st December 2025, I pledge my continued and total commitment to the service of Ndi Imo in the new year. We have the resources, we have the plan, and we have the political will. 2026 will be the year our people feel an even more concrete impact of these investments in every household”. Uzodimma stated.

Earlier presenting the budget to governor Uzodimma, the State Assembly Deputy Speaker,Amara Iwuanyanwu commended him for his numerous achievemts and promised continuous synergy from his colleagues .
