…Commends PBAT Door to Door- Movement
From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri
Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has intensified efforts at mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, declaring the State’s readiness to partner with the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement for his reelection.
Uzodimma made the declaration Tuesday, during the flag-off of the Movement’s Imo State Chapter at Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu Square, Owerri.
In his remarks, he commended PBAT Door-to-Door Founder, High Chief Owoizidei Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and his members for promoting the achievements of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Governor said his administration had assessed Tinubu’s performance and recognised the need for continuity to enable the President consolidate ongoing reforms and initiatives he has started in the country.
“We will work with you. We will do the work. We will re-elect the President,” Uzodimma declared, describing the Movement as
“a platform for taking the Federal Government’s policies and achievements directly to Nigerians at the grassroots.”
He expressed confidence that Imo State would deliver support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election, maintaining that the backing for Tinubu was based on his administration’s performance.
Uzodimma also urged members of the movement to remain solely committed to the APC and work with the State leadership to mobilise support for the President’s second-term ambition, warning that any act of coalition, Rainbow or not, from any member will attract sanctions.
During a courtesy call on the Governor by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement members in his office, Uzodimma had told his guests that he was determined to be part of the inauguration ceremony in Imo State despite his very tight schedule in Abuja as the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council.
He had appreciated the members for their commitment to the efforts of the APC leadership and Presidential Campaign Council towards the reelection of President Tinubu.
Earlier, the Imo State APC Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, announced plans to take the Party’s campaign directly to residents across the State through door-to-door engagement.
He said the initiative would enable Party representatives to explain government policies, engage residents in their homes and marketplaces, and listen to their concerns.
Onyedebelu highlighted key economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, including foreign exchange adjustments, the student loan scheme and the introduction of a N70,000 national minimum wage.
While acknowledging concerns over rising food prices, transportation costs and the general cost of living, he said the reforms in place were capable of dealing with such situations and that Nigerians will be better off in no time.
The APC Chairman also highlighted infrastructure projects undertaken by the Uzodimma administration under its Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery (3R) agenda, including the Owerri-Okigwe, Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Akokwa-Oguta roads, among more than 150 properly built roads across the State.
