Andrew Uzamere, the member representing Ovia North East Constituency II at the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), has pledged to mobilise his constituents for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to help Governor Monday Okpebholo actualise his promise of 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He made this commitment while presenting his scorecard to constituents in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

“We will deliver the 2.5 million votes that the governor has promised our President, Bola Tinubu. On behalf of my constituents, we will deliver our quota exponentially and in an impressive manner that the President and the Governor will be proud of,” Uzamere said.

The lawmaker stated that during his tenure in the House of Assembly, he has successfully brought the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of his people. He noted that these achievements would not have been possible without the opportunity to serve.

Seeking re-election to consolidate his progress, Uzamere described the turnout at the event as a testament to his accessibility and acceptance within the district.

“The mammoth crowd here is an attestation to my acceptance and the willingness of the people to send me back for another term. As they have said, ‘one good term deserves another.’ I want to profoundly thank His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for his trust and confidence in me,” he added.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor’s vision, specifically citing the administration’s “SHINE Agenda” (Security, Health, Infrastructure, Natural Resources/Agriculture, and Education).

“I don’t take the mandate of my constituents with levity; it is a sacred covenant. In a second term, they will receive even more than what I have already delivered,” Uzamere promised.

Bright Osayande, a former member representing the same constituency, commended Uzamere’s humility and persistence. He noted that Uzamere contested the position three times before finally securing victory on his fourth attempt in 2023. Osayande lauded the lawmaker’s developmental strides and urged constituents to support his return to office.

Additionally, Alex Onaiwu, an APC House of Assembly aspirant for the constituency, announced his decision to step down from the race. He explained that, having witnessed Uzamere’s achievements, he chose to support the incumbent to ensure the consolidation of his work.
