Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ekiti State.
JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, on Tuesday, explained that the decision was to enable the Board restructure the examination towns in Ekiti state to ensure closer proximity to candidates.
He added that the decision was also intended to ease transportation challenges on examination days when centres are assigned to candidates.

He noted that the 2026 UTME registration had commenced before the Board detected certain structural anomalies in the configuration of the examination towns in the state, necessitating urgent adjustments in the interest of candidates.
“JAMB, however, regrets any inconvenience this temporary measure may cause candidates who wish to select examination towns in the ongoing registration exercise in Ekiti State,” he said.
He assured candidates that the process will be concluded shortly, asking candidates in the state to freely select examination towns of their choice, particularly those closest to their locations.
Dr. Benjamin assured that JAMB will continuously monitor its operations and promptly addresses challenges reported by candidates. “Additionally, the Board remains committed to making necessary improvements to its processes to ensure that all candidates are treated with dignity and respect,” he said.
