Officials of USAID Nigeria State2State have concluded a three-day orientation workshop on Communication Strategy for some ministries and the Board of Internal Revenue Service in Ebonyi State.
The programme which involved the core sectors comprising Education, Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in the state was in accordance with the working relationship between USAID, the state and the Civil Society Organizations aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and effective governance for improved service delivery.
Programme Facilitator, Mrs Nneka Egbuna said that the strategy would provide a framework for effective communication and engagement with the public on the state’s policies, programmes and achievements.
She maintained that the objective of the event was to keep the information officers acquainted with the state’s communication strategy and its implementation action plan, develop a scope of work to implement the strategy and improve the targeted persons’ capacities on the use of tools to effectively carry out their functions.
The facilitator further disclosed that the three-day orientation featured lectures, interactions and learning.
In a brief remark, Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Information Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Tony Nwizi said the orientation would deepen the knowledge of the Information Officers in the state on how to explain the activities of the government vividly in the chosen sectors to the public.
He commended USAID over its objectives and for choosing the areas being the core sectors of human development.
In a goodwill message, Chairman of the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Samson Nwafor lauded USAID and the State Team Lead, for considering Ebonyi for the orientation.
He disclosed that Ebonyi is on the fast track of development and as such, the public should be kept abreast on what the government is doing for them by the Information Officers.P
Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr. Sylvester Egede who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the organisers.
He assured that they will deploy optimally what they had learnt in their daily practice in the state.
Daily Sun gathered that the programme featured group presentation, sharing of ideas, review of the scope of work, provision of feedback and an adoption of an action plan.
