The United States said it is committed to the safe return of all US citizens that have been abducted within Nigerian and other parts of the world.

A statement from the US Consulate in Lagos said the US delivered on that commitment late Friday night in Nigeria, where some of its bravest and most skilled warriors rescued a U.S. citizen after a group of armed men took him hostage across the border in Niger.

The statement by Jonathan Hoffman, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs salutes  the extraordinary courage and capabilities of United States military, explaining at “the support of our intelligence professionals, and our diplomatic efforts, the hostage will be reunited with his family.”

Hoffman said United States will never abandon any American taken hostage and “will continue to protect our people and our interests anywhere in the world.”
