David Axelrod, who served as a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama has called on Joe Biden to step aside ahead of the November election.

Axelrod’s advice comes following recent controversies surrounding President Biden’s alleged mental decline.

He stated that the President’s age would dominate the rest of the most important campaign and sully the president’s historic legacy.

Axelrod’s comments were made shortly after Biden’s full interview with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos aired Friday evening. It was the first since Biden’s widely panned debate performance against former President Trump last week.

Axelrod in an opinion piece for CNN said, “If he does not [step aside], it will be Biden’s age, and not Trump’s moral and ethical void, that will dominate the rest of this most important campaign and sully the president’s historic legacy.”
