URBSIAL elects new executives

United Rivers Bayelsa Indigenes Association Lagos (URBSIAL) has elected new officers to lead the association for the next two years, with Magnus Amos emerging as the new president.

The election was held at Rivers and Bayelsa Laision Office at 30 Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, where Magnus Amos emerged as the president.

Other executives elected include Revd. Douglas West – (First Vice President), Alfred Alagoa (Second Vice President), Godfrey Amadi (General Secretary), Ms. Daba Iyeimo (Assistant General Secretary), Anselm Uzomah (Financial Secretary), Ms. Boma Iga (Assistant Financial Secretary), Mrs. Victoria Alagoa – (Treasurer), Ndidiamaka Enyiche (Assistant Publicity Secretary) among others.

In his acceptance speech, the new president, Amos said “ We give glory to God for what He has done today because without Him, we can hold a successful election.

“ I appreciate members for given us the opportunity to serve and we will not disappoint you. I was in the previous administration and the former president was meticulous and if we fail, he won’t be happy .

I thank the new executives and I want us to be conscious of our meetings. The executives has all accepted the various positions and we will work together as a team to move the association forward.

First Vice President, Douglas-West said “ I assure members that we will rally ourselves and speak in one voice. Nobody is too small or big in this association and we just need to be on the same page to lift the association to greater heights.

In his remarks, the out-going president Bob Ogoli said “ I promised to handover to a responsible executive that will not disappoint the association and that is what I have done.
