President Bola Tinubu has dismissed speculation about his health, declaring that he is healthy, sound and ready to resume official duties after his month-long working vacation in Europe.
Tinubu, who spoke with journalists shortly after arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday, described the health rumours as politically motivated, insisting that there was nothing wrong with him.
Responding to questions about his health and readiness to continue with the business of governance, the President said: “Ready to kick, ready to work. There’s nothing wrong.”
“Well, rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here: healthy, sound and ready to go.”
Asked about his experience during the vacation, Tinubu simply said: “I enjoyed myself.”
His remarks came amid speculation about his health following the extension of his stay in Europe beyond the three weeks initially announced by the Presidency.
The Presidency had maintained that the President was in good health and remained in charge of government affairs throughout his stay abroad.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who was among dignitaries who received the President at the airport, expressed optimism that the break would translate into renewed energy and greater action by the administration.
“It is incredibly nice to have him after one month away, and we believe that the days he has spent resting will translate into more action this time around.
“We believe that he will come with renewed vigour, a renewed hope, to continue serving the good people of Nigeria,” Abbas said.

Tinubu arrived in Lagos at about 6:22 pm on Tuesday, following the conclusion of his working vacation in Europe, which began with his departure from Abuja on 30 August.
His Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, announced the arrival in a post on his verified X handle, @DOlusegun, welcoming the President back to the country.
“Landing. Welcome home Mr President!” he wrote.
Olusegun subsequently shared a video showing the President being received by a large gathering of government officials and political leaders at the airport.
Those present included Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The President began his European vacation in London before proceeding to Paris, France, where he spent the remainder of his stay.
On 21 September, the Presidency announced an extension of the vacation by a few days, stating that Tinubu remained in contact with developments at home and continued to direct government affairs from abroad.
During his stay in Paris, 】 held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met businessman Vincent Bolloré, whose business interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary on 1 October.
He is also expected to attend the premiere of a production honouring the late Chief MKO Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
