Zaria fuel tanker explosion kills several, FRSC responds

No life was lost in an accident that involved two tankers along Kaduna-Kano road on Monday, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, RS1, Tijanni Iliyasu has clarified.

He also clarified that only two tankers; one conveying compressed natural gas (CNG) and the other conveying premium motor spirit (PMS) were involved.

“From our preliminary investigation, the vehicles were coming from the same directions.

“One of them was trying to overtake the other, and they ended up racing on the road and burst into flames.

“The good news is that nobody was injured and there were no fatalities. Nobody died in the crash because they were not carrying passengers.

“From our report, only two vehicles were involved. Our personnel are on the ground monitoring the situation.

Earlier report had claimed that several lives were lost and that four vehicles were involved.
