UPDATE: 13 rescued, 5 dead in Lagos building collapse

More details have emerged in the collapse of a three-storey building at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, Ojodu-Berger, on April 19, 2025.

According to the latest update, the total number of individuals affected by the incident is eighteen, while thirteen were rescued alive.

The thirteen rescued comprise four adult females and nine adult males.

As of 05:48 am on Sunday, the number of recovered bodies stood at five: three females and two adult males.

Daily Sun reported that the building, housing the Equal Rights Restaurant and Bar, collapsed suddenly, trapping 17 people under debris.

LASEMA’s Response Teams, including the Tiger and Cobra units from Alausa and Onipanu, are coordinating search and rescue efforts, supported by heavy equipment like excavators, payloaders, and hiabs, alongside light rescue tools such as concrete cutters and spreaders.
