The Chemistry Class of 1992 of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has donated textbooks to the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry in a move to strengthen the department’s library resources and support the training of future chemists.
The more than 30 textbooks, published by various authors and publishers, covered several branches of chemistry, including Analytical, Environmental, Industrial, Nuclear, Organic, Physical and Quantum Chemistry.
In a remark while handing over the textbooks yesterday in Nsukka, Dr Kenechukwu Ugwu, Secretary of the UNN Chemistry Class of 1992, said that the donation was a demonstration of their enduring appreciation for the department’s role in shaping their careers and personal development.
“This donation is a demonstration of our enduring appreciation to the department for the invaluable role it played in shaping our careers, academic growth and personal development.
“We are optimistic that the donated books will enrich the department’s academic resources and support effective teaching and learning, ultimately benefiting both lecturers and students,” he said,” Dr Ugwu said.
Ugwu, who is also a Deputy Director at the National Centre for Energy Research and Development, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, UNN, said further that the Class of 1992 would liaise with the Department for further interventions.
