Recently, people from the academia, captains of industries, converged in Lagos for the official launching of “Unlikely” authored by – Tewogbade Kazeem, Chief Executive Officer Bluechip Technologies Ltd
The epoch event took place on the 13th of November and attracted people from all walks of life.
In his remarks, Tewogbade said he was thankful to God for the gift of life and grace of accomplishments that merited writing a book. I am grateful for family and friends that God has been surrounding me with.
“This book, ‘Unlikely’, is about me as much as it is about my mother, Alhaja Adunni – my jewel of inestimable value. It now all seems like we had a mother-and-son deal. She will toil and stoically make sacrifices to ensure she is on the ground to raise me well and make sure I don’t lack basic things, but I must go out there and succeed.
Mum, you have excellently fulfilled your side of the deal while I am still journeying through the success pathway. But it is clear I am succeeding.
“Yes, you can call me a mum’s boy. Yet, I was my dad’s boy, too. My dad is not here today. It is now 10th year since he departed the world. I trust he’s in a better place. Thank you, Dad, for being a non-nonsense parent who instilled discipline, diligence, and honesty in me and my siblings with words and cane. I miss you so dearly.
“I always thought that I hadn’t done enough or achieved many significant milestones to herald telling the world my story. That thinking started to evaporate with Vantage, Olumide’s debut book. But I will say the thinking was totally undone by my realisation that stories are meant to be told, that documentation of one’s story is more about uniqueness of accomplishments one has recorded, and not necessarily about the volume of accomplishments. While many would argue that, for me, the volume already speaks for itself, even, I would say uniqueness matters to me more. So I would entreat everyone to write their own story as I have just done.

Consequently, I felt it was important and was time I documented my journey to prove that however unlikely success may seem, with hard work and faith, and in hopefulness for a better tomorrow, success is achievable. Unlikely reflects on the values of family, mentorship, and resilience — showing that even in life’s unpredictability, purpose and intentionality can guide us toward our best outcomes. Unlikely is also a story of perseverance and a further confirmation of Quran 94, verse 5-6, which states: “with every difficulty, there is ease. Indeed, with that difficulty, there’s more ease. ”
“The book is also about Mr. Kayode Soyombo. The seed he planted and graciously supported by his eminent friends has not only produced great success stories, but it has also enabled 2 very impactful books. While Vantage, and now Unlikely have showcased your specialness as a great dad, as a graceful family man, and as a renowned entrepreneur, I still feel we haven’t done anything close to what you would have written by yourself for yourself. I would love that humanity, beyond the people that have associated with you directly, to experience how phenomenal your specialness is. Olumide and I are in wait for your signal – just your signal, sir.
2 of my children are physically here, while 2 will be watching us online. I have told the story in
Unlikely of how my dad felt I was his greatest accomplishment. There’s no denying the fact that my dad worked very hard for that outcome. But that outcome was for me to determine, not his. So, to my kids, please make sure you determine outcomes that match and even surpass your parent’s efforts. At the end of the day, after everything is said and done, make your mum, and I realise that you are our best accomplishment individually and collectively.
I also shared in Unlikely some reflections on how we have built Bluechip Technologies to be a leading Pan-African IT services company. How we keep adapting and advancing. How we have ensured over the years that our words are our bond and how we see integrity from 3 different perspectives – Value Delivery, Commercial Fidelity, and Ethics.
Our customers would read from the book how thorough and futuristic we are in solving their business problems. They will see how passionate we are in earning their trust. Young businesses would also learn a lot about partnering for success and how boldness can enable breakthroughs.
What gets me up at nights these days is now more about sustainability and creating an enterprise that can outlast me, in the first instance, and then Olumide in the second instance,”he said
