UNIZIK gets substantive Registrar

The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has approved the appointment of Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke as the new Registrar of the institution.

The decision was taken at the Council’s 18th Emergency Meeting held on Friday, August 15, 2025, following the consideration of the report of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board, which interviewed candidates for the position the same day.

According to an official statement signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Barr. Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, Dr. Okeke’s appointment takes effect from Monday, August 18, 2025.

As Registrar, Dr. Okeke becomes the Chief Administrative Officer of the university, directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the institution.

She will also serve as Secretary to the Governing Council, the Senate, the Congregation, and the Convocation.

Her appointment comes with the conditions of service applicable to Registrars of Nigerian federal universities, as approved by the Federal Government and the UNIZIK Governing Council, alongside other provisions for senior staff of the institution.

Barr. Kukoyi, in the statement, congratulated Dr. Okeke on her appointment and expressed confidence in her capacity to serve effectively

Meanwhile, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, has also congratulated Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke on her appointment as the Substantive Registrar of the university.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi extended her heartfelt wishes to Dr. Okeke during a meeting in her office on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi assured Dr. Okeke of her cooperation and commitment to working together as a team to drive the progress of the institution and improve the welfare of students and staff.
