As part of its efforts at promoting innovation and enhancing the global competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), University of Ibadan is set to host its 2024 SME Fair.
The pivotal event theme, “Moving the SME Global Community Forward through Technology, Innovation, and Creativity,” will gather entrepreneurs, students, and industry leaders from across Nigeria.
The fair which is scheduled for November 8th and 9th will take place at the International Conference Centre, located on the university’s campus.
According to the convener, Prof. Ruth Ochanya Adio-Moses, the objective of the fair is to create a platform for participants to share ideas, explore technological advancements, and expand their business networks.”
The fair will feature a keynote address, guests speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, as well as product exhibitions from producers, faculty members and students. In addition, there will be inter-university competitions, pitch events and business matchmaking sessions designed to help emerging innovators and startups gain exposure and secure investment.
Notable speakers from various sectors will present strategies for SMEs to succeed in an increasingly competitive global market. Attendees will also have access to training sessions focused on creativity and the adoption of new technologies for business growth.
The event is powered by the Office of the DVC Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership, sponsored by Providence Bank and CEO Africa serving as the official media partner. The University of Ibadan SME Fair is expected to be a critical event for the business community, offering numerous grants and business opportunities.
