A prominent stakeholder of Bakassi in Cross River State, Hon Saviour Nyong, has urged indigenes of the area to rally behind Cross River State Governor Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu and to drop all pending lawsuits that could derail peace and development.
Nyong described unity and “unalloyed support” for the governor as “crucial ingredients for sustained growth and the final resolution of the long-standing Bakassi question.”
“No community can thrive amid division and only a united Bakassi can attract the attention, compassion and intervention our people truly deserve.

Litigations are a potential setback capable of derailing the commendable progress already recorded.
Litigation will not heal our wounds; dialogue, partnership and faith in the current administration will,” he said.
He noted that the Green Tree Agreement underpinning the ICJ ruling has yet to be ratified by the National Assembly as required by Section 12 of the 1999 Constitution and praised the Otu administration’s “sincere commitment and practical steps toward addressing the plight of the Bakassi people through diplomacy, dialogue and developmental engagement.”
