The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Business School will hold a three-day workshop in September to examine strategies for driving sustainable economic transformation in Nigeria through innovative governance, strategic leadership and institutional reform.
The workshop, scheduled for September 2 to 4, 2026, in Port Harcourt, is themed, “Advancing Sustainable Economic Transformation: A Look at Innovative Governance and Strategic Leadership.”
The programme is expected to bring together scholars, policymakers, business leaders, development practitioners and other stakeholders to examine practical approaches to building a more resilient, diversified and inclusive Nigerian economy.
According to the organisers, the workshop comes amid rapid technological change, environmental pressures, shifting global trade patterns and growing demands for structural reforms to improve Nigeria’s economic competitiveness.
Discussions will focus on economic diversification, institutional strengthening, innovation-led growth, human capital development, financial-sector deepening, governance and strategic leadership.
The organisers said the programme would seek to move discussions beyond policy formulation to practical strategies capable of generating sustainable economic opportunities across sectors and regions.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Dakuku Peterside, a turnaround management and leadership strategist, who will examine the factors shaping economic prosperity and the institutional and governance reforms required to achieve sustainable economic transformation.
Peterside is also expected to address business process re-engineering, strategic institutional reform and scalable models for improving organisational and economic performance.
