No fewer than 1,232 students of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, on Wednesday, took their oath of matriculation as they were formally admitted to the university.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, who presided over the ceremony, advised the students to take their academics seriously and place a premium on hard work.
Adejuyigbe stated that the university is a model for other medical schools in Nigeria, stressing that UNIMED places great importance on excellence.
She urged the students to uphold the values of honesty, dedication, diligence, and excellence throughout their time as students of the university.

She said, “You are in this institution to learn and relearn with a view to becoming a total person, who will not only be useful to himself or herself but to society at large.”
To achieve this, the Vice Chancellor said the university would adopt a three-pronged approach of education, enlightenment, and empowerment.
According to her, adopting this approach will enable graduates to be globally competitive and not just locally useful when they leave the institution.
“Today is only the beginning of a long journey. Your programme here is not a sprint; it is a marathon. It requires perseverance and adherence to rules. So, if it is going to be, it is up to you,” she stated.
