No fewer than 771 students cut across various departments will on Thursday recieved various degrees of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo at the 7th convocation ceremony of the university.
Addressing a press conference to herald the convocation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe said 598 of the total number are undergraduates while 173 are post graduates.
Giving a breakdown of the graduands, Prof Adejuyigbe disclosed that the university produced 76. Master’s degree graduates, 32 MPH graduates, 52 Post Graduate Diploma holders and 13 Ph.D graduates.
She informed that university has grown in all areas, especially in research, saying that the post graduate programmes of the university has been strengthen.

She disclosed that the university collaborated with the West African College of Surgeons and West African College of Physicians for its PhD programmes, adding that the university, through the training integrated clinical fellowship training with doctoral research.
Analysing the achievements of the university, Prof Adejuyigbe hinted that all the academic programmes of the university are tully accredited by relevant authorities, adding that six academic staff of the university recently secured National Research Fund approval.
The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that an academic staff of the university, Dr Peter Olumuyiwa was ranked among the top two percent of scientists globally in 2024 and 2025.
Commenting on the japa syndrome, Prof Adejuyigbe said universities need to produce more medical professionals to cate for the shortage of medical personnel occasioned by the relocation of many of them.
