The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Sports Centre will come alive on Sunday, April 27, 2025, as the grand finale of the 6th edition of the U-13 JOF Kids Cup Tournament draws the curtain on weeks of intense grassroots football competition.
Since the tournament kicked off a few weeks ago, 62 thrilling matches have been played across various playgrounds in Lagos, southwest Nigeria. Now, four standout teams remain in contention for top honours.
In the third-place fixture scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Strong Dove of Orile will take on 1st Class FC of Lagos Island. The highlight of the day will follow at 3:00 p.m. when B. Unit Boys of Mainland battle Versity Boys of Lagos Island in what promises to be a pulsating final.
The event’s sponsor, JOF Nigeria Limited, has promised a glamorous closing ceremony, expected to attract a distinguished audience comprising multinational executives, top sports administrators, business leaders, football legends, and passionate fans.
The tournament enjoys corporate support from leading organisations including Zenith Bank PLC, First Bank PLC, Stanbic IBTC, Providus Bank, Custodian Insurance PLC, Nigerian Breweries PLC (Maltina), UAC Foods PLC (Gala), and Nestle Foods (Milo).
As has been the tradition since the inception of the tournament six years ago, JOF Nigeria Limited remains committed to recognising excellence. According to Mr. Adeyinka Adetunji, Director of Strategic Support Services at JOF Nigeria Limited, a total prize purse of N1,925,000 will be distributed among the top four teams and individual award winners.
Adetunji revealed during a media briefing at the company’s corporate headquarters in Ikeja that the fourth-place team will receive N250,000, while third-place finishers will take home N350,000. The runners-up are set to earn N500,000, with the champions walking away with a cash prize of N750,000.
In addition, individual accolades will be rewarded: N25,000 each will go to the Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, and the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
With all eyes on the future stars of Nigerian football, the stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to a tournament that continues to nurture talent and promote grassroots development in the sport.
